Imagine you’re walking on the set of ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,’ the latest television series from serial creator Ryan Murphy, and being teleported from the chic sixties’ ladies who lunch at La Côte Basque restaurant-of-the-bygone-day in New York City to a current Montreal photo studio where model Camille is gracefully channeling the socialites of the era with a wonderfully glam wardrobe. But with the vibe and grit of a 21st century woman totally owning her power and sexuality. And her collection of tattoos.
“That’s the kind of mood we wanted to create with this photoshoot, with a splash of Barbiecore” says fashion stylist Max Valmont, from Les Deux X Stylisme Privé, on an Instagram video conversation with Montreal fashion and event photographer Yagub Allahverdiyev, who shot this collection called ‘Enigmatic Elegance’.
“Our goal was to reinterpret the idea of retro glam, but in a totally modern way. There’s an interesting tension between the elegance of the clothes and Camille’s tattoos. We wanted to play on that to make it interesting.”
Despite both creators knowing each other for a while because they often attend the same events, this is their first collab. And we’re particularly thrilled at Fashion Beauty Runway to be able to showcase it as an exclusive. “Max came to me with this idea of overlapping two eras and two styles with one model,” explains Yagub.
“It’s rare that I meet photographers who have the same aesthetic as mine, but it works really well with Yagub, and we have a good chemistry when working together.”
